Ada Payne Obituary

PAYNE Ada Marie Payne, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Scioto Community Care Center. Ada retired from Eastside Day Care Center as a Teacher's Aide. She could always be found helping children whether counseling youth at CMACAO, volunteering at Children's Hospital and First Church of God. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Marie Ragland, husband Edwin Raymond Payne, son Raymond Edwin Payne, sister Shirley Ragland, and Lillian Dailey. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Paulette Payne; and son, Kenneth Payne (New York City); nephews, Steven and Stanley Dailey; grandchildren, Rickey, Yolanda, Jason, Robert, Rowshawn, Trina and Yvette; and a host of great-grandchildren; special friends, Rose Almond, Ernestine Greene, Frankie Byrd, and Barbara King; and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m.on Friday, January 2, 2009 at First Church of God, 3080 Refugee Rd. Bishop Timothy Clarke, Officiating. Interment Glen Rest Cemetery on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 10 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to SMITH MORTUARY, 614.447.9300. The family would like to thank those who cared for Ada at OSU East Hospital, Select Specialty Hospital, Life Care Alliance, and Scioto Community Care Center (Acclaimed Hospice Care).

I knew Ms. Ada through my mother, Mrs. Christine Roberts, who I lost around this time 5 years ago. They were great friends & now they will be together once again smiling down on us all from heaven.

To the family, you are in my prayers; ms. ada was a friend of my grandmothers and she attended our senior banquet every year for the last 7 years in february, she will be sadly missed she and my grandmother christine roberts were in the central community house senoirs and she was there for my grandmother, and I want the family to know I loved ms ada and will miss her. as a young girl i remember my mother (mildred)taking us out to urban crest to aunt ada's house. Contact was lost through the years but the memories of aunt ada remains. Our prayers are with you, that the strength of God will secure you during this time.
