Cathy and family,
The Wiregrass has suffered a great loss, the Ohio State "Buckeyes" a great supporter, and one and all a genuine friend. He will always be remembered for the true dedication and service he gave to the Wiregrass -- promoting Sports for all ages and in all areas. As I remember the closing statement made by Mr. Meckley at the end of a Dothan High School basketball game (Back when I was growing up)---I think that it is very appropriate when thinking of Al!
"And when that great Sportswriter in the Sky goes to write against your name--Remember it's not whether you won or lost, but How You Played the Game! Al truly played it well!!!!!
God Bless and be with you!

Al was great friend to me and to all the youth in Dothan for so many years. We worked together in so many projects, espcially the Dothan Progress Tourney and the All-Wiregrass Team selections shown on WTVY for many years. I already miss my friend.

I didnt know Al personally but I grew up watching him on WTVY. He was great at his job and seemed to have a true passion for sports and the many althletes he was reporting on. The wiregrass has lost a true icon.

Al was great Kiwanian and friend who had a wonderful sense of humor. He will always have a special place at the "Table of Knowledge" during Kiwanis meetings.
