1938 - 2018
Albert Ray Shaffer, age 80, of Hebron, OH, died Monday, November 5, 2018 surrounded by his wife and children after a battle with ALS. Albert was born January 12, 1938 in Pataskala, OH to Raymond and Thelma Shaffer. After graduating from Dillonvale H.S. in 1956 Al entered the Army serving in Germany. In 1959 he married his high school sweetheart, Elsie Vojacek. Al worked for Western Electric for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Al was a very talented man that enjoyed woodworking, rebuilding tractors and cars, mowing his property and golfing. Al was preceded in death by his father Raymond Shaffer, brother Paul Shaffer and sisters Ruth, Linda and twin sister Bert. Along with his wife, Elsie of 59 years, he is survived by his mother, Thelma Shaffer; son, Glenn Shaffer; daughter, Michele (Steve) Fireovid; grandchildren, Jason and Rebecca Shaffer, Adam and Rachel Fireovid; great grandchildren, Morgan and Zach Shaffer and Amberly and Laci Williams; brothers, Howard (Phyllis) and Charles (Mary)Shaffer; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Shaffer. Al is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 11AM-1PM at Crouse- Kauber Fraley Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St, Johnstown, Ohio 43031. The funeral service will follow at 1PM. Interment will take place at Green Hill Cemetery. Donations may be made in Albert's honor to Hospice of Central Ohio.

Al & El were the best neighbors and friends we have ever had; we have lost contact over the years but they have constantly been in our thoughts.
Al was one of the most talented persons I have ever known, we were constantly amazed at what he could build or fix.
Al and Elsie set the standards for all married couples to follow.
Wonderful couple, the world is a better place because of them.
