Arlene Pemberton Obituary
1947 - 2021
Arlene Kaufman Galuten Pemberton, age 74, of Bonita Springs Florida passed on February 19, 2021 in Columbus, OH after surviving for 7 years with stage 4 lung cancer. She was born in New York City on June 8, 1947 to the late Ben and Beryl Kaufman and sister to the late, Roberta Kaufman Greenland. She is survived by her sons, Ben (Lisa) Horn and Brandon (Wendy Yu) Horn and grandchildren, Brayden, Dylan, Tai and Pema. The family moved from New York City to Springfield, OH when she was 10 years old at which time, she met her lifelong best friend, Pat Bigley. She graduated from Springfield North High School and attended The University of Cincinnati. Arlene ran the family business Readmore Stores in Springfield, OH with her late sister Roberta until they sold in the mid-1980s. She later started the candy distribution company Slam Bam the Candy Man in Cincinnati, OH which serviced theme parks such as Kings Island and Six Flags. She also started a medical supply company called DABB Inc. which focused on mobility equipment for seniors with disabilities. She raised her family in Dayton Ohio where she was an active member of Temple Israel. After raising her children, she moved to Bonita Springs Florida where she enjoyed her retirement playing tennis with her many friends at Lighthouse Bay at the Brooks. A Memorial Service will be held via zoom at 1:30pm on Sunday, February 21, 2021.
