Beverly Hittson Potts

POTTS Beverly Hittson Potts, age 76, passed away Thursday, January 22, at Whetstone after a short illness. A lover of nature, music and civic works, Beverly was active at the U.A. Senior Citizens Center and adored appearing in local productions of Vaud-Villities. Born December 1, 1932 to Harker and Elizabeth Hittson, Beverly was salutatorian of her class at Upper Arlington High School (1950) and attended Denison University, class of 1954. As the young wife of Air Force Lt. Col. William G. Potts, she organized the first League of Women Voters' chapter in Little Rock, Ark. More than 20 years later, she returned to school, earning an M.S. degree in mental health counseling from the University of Miami, Fla. She counseled the needy, including female prisoners and victims of S. Fla.'s Hurricane Andrew (1992). She's survived by two children, Jackie and Daniel Potts; her sister, Cori Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at a reception from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2009 in room 202 at the U.A. Senior Center, 1945 Ridgeview Road.
