Bill Hale Obituary

HALE Bill Hale, age 84, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on January 20, 2013. He was born September 9, 1928, in Martin County, Kentucky. He was a loving and giving husband, father, and grandfather known for his devotion to his family. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 34 years, and was a member of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church and Dudes and Dolls Square Dance Club. He enjoyed spending winters in Port Charlotte, Florida, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities, joking and laughing. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Daphene Maynard Hale; and his children, Dr. Kenneth Hale and his wife, Karen, and their children, Adam (Amy Dammann) and Jessica, and Dr. Terrie Hale Scheckelhoff and her husband, Kevin, and their children, Hannah and Hale; and brothers and sisters and their families, Dorothy Davidson, Jack (Betty), Jimmy, Sammy (Karen), Betty Jo Harman (Earl), Patty Romans (Butch), and Ronnie. He was preceded in death by his parents Sheridan and Ella (Webb) and brothers Quinton, Edsel, Ellis, Everett, and Leonard. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 25, 2013, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service at Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church, 1636 Graham Road. Inurnment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice, 1144 Dublin Road, Columbus, Ohio 43215, 614-234-0200. The family is especially grateful to the caregivers at Mt. Carmel Hospice and special friends who supported them and allowed him to be surrounded by his family during his last days.
