Daugherty Bob J. Daugherty, age 84, of Sunbury, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Easter Sunday morning, April 20, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 1, 1930, in Johnston City, IL, to the late George Washington and Maggie Hurd Daugherty. He graduated from Johnston City High School and attended Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee and was graduated from Milligan College in Tennessee. He attended The Ohio State University's graduate program in Speech and Ohio Dominican for more courses in Elementary Education. On August 3, 1954, Bob married Mary Frances Denune at the Linden Church of Christ in Columbus, Ohio. He served as the minister to the Taylor's Valley Church of Christ in Virginia, the Danville Church of Christ near Hillsboro, Ohio, and the Rich Street Church of Christ in Columbus. He was director of Children's Church in Sunbury and served as elder at the Worthington Christian Church. Bob served on the Franklinton Community Council and represented them on COMACO in Columbus where he served creating the Transportation Authority. He taught school at New Market Elementary near Hillsboro, Ohio, and at both Sunbury and Big Walnut Elementary in Sunbury. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Mary; two children, John Mark of Las Vegas, Nevada and Jeanie Marie Swain (Clark) of Sunbury, Ohio, and three grandchildren: Joshua (Sasha), Jacob (Kyndell) and Amber Swain; six great-grandchildren, Caidence, Chloe, Aiden, Cid, Clark and Ethan Swain, and adopted granddaughter, Mijung Anne Baugh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters and brothers Alice Arbagast, Mary Bush, Mary Ellen Waltasti, Harold of Chicago, IL, Glen of Knoxville, TN, Lejune of Johnston City, IL, Donald of Herrin, IL, and Leborn Earl of San Antonio, TX. Friends may call Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury and again Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 9-11 a.m. at Worthington Christian Church, 8145 North High St., Columbus, OH 43235, where a Celebration of His Life will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastors David Roberson, Tom Sherrod and Lee Cox officiating. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m., Sunbury Memorial Park, following a period of fellowship at the church.
