Brian D. Gerwig, age 81, of Sunbury, died peacefully on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Retired after 37 years with Timken Roller Bearing as Scheduling and Purchasing Manager. Brian loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, cutting wood, gardening and bird-watching. He most enjoyed it with his kids and grandkids teaching them all he had learned while growing up in West Virginia. He enjoyed OSU football and long afternoon naps. Brian also loved a quick wit and shared a dry sense of humor with his children. Member of the NRA, Blendon Lodge 339 F&AM, 32nd degree Mason, American Legion Post 457 and avid supporter of Smile Train. Veteran U.S. Army. Preceded in death by parents, Earl and Ada Dale Gerwig; brothers, Warren K., Christian E. and Leland H. Gerwig. Survived by loving wife of 35 years, Brenda (Davis) Gerwig; devoted children, Christy (Matt Ashby) Young of Billing, MT, Lisa (Mick) Slyman of Gahanna, Brad (Lisa) Gerwig of Sunbury, Todd (Michelle) Gerwig of Avon, NY; grandchildren, Ashlee and Joe Slyman, Nick, Grace and Cole Gerwig; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 4-7 PM Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Intersection of State Routes 36 and 3, Sunbury, Ohio where Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, March 29, 2018.
