Carla Simmons Obituary

Simmons, Carla
1967 - 2021
On Saturday March 27, 2021 Carla Lee Simmons of Westerville, OH passed away at the age of 53 with the love of her life by her side at St Ann's Hospital. Carla was born on August 2, 1967 in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Gene Jackson and Patsy (Tongate) Simmons. She graduated from Morgantown High School in 1985 and Ohio University in 1989 with a BBA in Marketing. Carla's professional career begin with the Eddie Bauer and Bombay companies. After moving back to Columbus, she began working with JP Morgan Chase where she has been for 22 years, most recently as an Associate Program Manager. Carla never met a stranger and was always willing to help others or share a kind gesture. She much preferred to be on the giving end of gifts. There are so many stories of her extensive knowledge and sense of humor. She was very skilled in the culinary arts and excelled with her baking. She frequently gifted her family, friends, and co-workers with exquisite boxes of her baked goods. Carla enjoyed being an avid collector, caring for her beloved cats and traveling. Carla is survived by her partner of 23-years, Karen Garrison; her older sisters, Lisa Simmons of Morgantown, WV and Molly (Paul) Willis of Newfields, NH; her uncle, John Tongate of Austin, TX; nephews, Aidan Willis of Las Vegas, NV and Owen Willis of Newfields, NH; and her Lifelong friend, Mark Sanders of Morgantown, WV; and many close friends and coworkers. At the request of the family there will be no visitation or formal funeral services. There will be a celebration of life for Carla planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a remembrance donation in Carla's honor those can be directed to the Humane Society of Columbus, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Ct, Hilliard, OH 43026 or Noah's Ark Animal Shelter, PO Box 405, Gainesville, TX 76241. In a final unselfish gesture Carla's wishes were to be an organ donor which was handled by Lifeline of Ohio. She will remain our hero by helping to save other's lives.
