Cathy Bell Obituary

Bell, Cathy
1947 - 2021
Cathy Kilbury (Brooks) Bell, age 73, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2021. Cathy was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 3, 1947 to Abe and Wilma Kilbury. Along with her brother, John H. Kilbury, she grew up in and around the Columbus area before settling in Dublin with her family in 1955. Cathy graduated from Dublin High School in 1965, and was the school's homecoming queen in 1964. She attended Miami University before moving to New York City to study and teach fashion marketing at the Tobe-Coburn School. After moving to Connecticut, marrying and having her children, Jennifer Mills Brooks (1980) and Stephen Boyd Brooks (1982), she returned home to Dublin to be closer to her family and loved raising her children alongside her brother's children, Cortney Cinamin Kilbury and Jordan Dunbar Kilbury. In 2002 she married Jerry Bell and loved their time together traveling and enjoying their group of friends. She was actively involved in her churches and in later years, split her time between Dublin and the Florida Gulf Coast. She was a wonderful mother-in-law to Benjamin John Cerny and Virginia Fisher Brooks and a grandmother to her five grandchildren, Avery Mills Cerny, Case Benjamin Cerny, Spencer Boyd Brooks, Campbell Catherine Cerny and Sadie Estelle Brooks - all of whom lovingly called her, "Lulu." She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Debra Kilbury, her dear aunt, Patricia Kilbury and her cousins, Nancy Simms, Fritz and Judy Kilbury and their families, Jake Bell (Scott), Jeremy Bell (Chris) and her two step grandchildren, Tyler and Sophie Bell. A celebration of her life will be held this Fall for her family and friends. In Cathy's honor, please consider spreading random acts of kindness or making a donation to the national Alzheimer's Association.

Cathy was my best friend from my days at Miami University. I remember visiting her home with her parents and brother. She was so good for me as she was a free spirit and I was not. We have many precious memories together.
