Hello Doug and Randy
Our thoughts and Prayers are with you and your Families during this difficult time.....You have to know that your parents will be guiding you and your children from Heaven, in their safe and prayerful place......they were two of the most pleasant and thoughtful people people that we had the opportunity to be associated with.....Your Dad contributed generously with His football Knowledge and Professionalism in working with the players at Bishop Hartley. He was rather quiet and reserved man with respect for his fellow coaches and students......our lives have been enriched by knowing them and their Boys......thank you for your continued dedication to the Hartley Community, as we thank your MOM and DAD, as well.....this is not only a tremendous loss for you and your families but to the Hartley Community.... we will make a donation to the Hartley football in your Dad's Name.....We were unable to attend the Service d/t prior and scheduled commitment......May God Be With You!!!

Our family was saddened to hear of your family's loss. We were blessed to have Coach Wooten coach our sons in AAU. He was a joyful man and natural leader. We still talk about his enthusiasm and influence on each of us. Keeping your family in prayer.

Doug, Randy, it's still so hard to believe that he is no longer with us. We were friends as well as neighbors for over 34 years. Red Clover will never be the same. I always wondered how someone from Ohio could be a M fan and he turned you both and the grandkids into one as well. It's going to be so different on the 4th Thursday of November to look across the street and not see the Michigan flag, signs when the big game is being played. Going to miss him coming over for cards and bring a guest at my parties. Rest easy Chuck. #forever

To Randy and Doug, I’m so sorry for your loss. The man with the million dollar smile is how i will always remember your Dad. He was always so welcoming and friendly to our family. We have a lot of good memories of our time at Hartley with Your Mom and Dad. Two very wonderful people. They will be greatly missed.

Doug & Randy,

My deepest sympathy to you, your family and all of those who mourn the loss of this great man.

Your dad willingly gave his time and wisdom to help countless young men who needed it. I am a better person for having known Chuck Wooten and I know those sentiments are shared by many.

Know that the impact that he has left on our community will be felt for many years.

I will miss seeing him and getting well wishes from him where he still called me Primetime.

We should all aim to be more like Coach.

Truly,

Jon Melchi

I am sending my prayers and sincere sympathy in the loss of Chuck Wooten to his family, friends, and Linden and Hartley high school communities. I was blessed to coach line with Chuck for several years at Hartley. He was a great teacher, motivator, and mentor of the game. He was a great and proud dad and grandad who shared wonderful family photos over the years. May many happy memories of Chuck be of comfort at this time of loss and in the days ahead.

Coach Wooten was beloved by the entire Linden McKinley community. I was honored to get to know him and his family in the late 90's, and my husband and I have stayed in touch with him over the years. He was a disciplinarian and a no nonsense coach! He was an amazing family man and role model. He was just what the young men at Linden needed as they navigated school, playing basketball and staying away from negative temptations that were ever present in our neighborhood. He made them wear a shirt and tie on game days. He taught them to be respectful and have manners no matter what. He taught them about hard work, sportsmanship, what it meant to be a part of a team and what it meant to be a part of the LM brotherhood. My heart broke in a million pieces when I heard about the untimely passing of his late wife, and again when I heard the news of his passing. I am comforted in knowing that he is in heaven with the love of his life. My deepest sympathies and prayers are extended to Doug, Randy, the entire Wooten family and the hundreds (yes hundreds!) of players, coaches and students that he touched over the past 40 years. His legacy will live on forever. Thank you Randy and Doug for sharing your Dad with all of us. RIP Coach Wooten
