Clarence Huffman Obituary

Huffman Clarence "Bill" Huffman, age 87, of Ostrander passed away at home Sunday, April 19, 2015 surrounded by those whom he loved. Born on January 25, 1928 in Columbus to the late Lisle and Ethel (Feyh) Huffman, he was a US Army Veteran of WW II. He drove a beer route for over 36 years on the Westside of Columbus with the Hi State Beverage Company. Never one to sit idle, after retirement he delivered parts for North Main Motors in Marysville. A member of St. Mary Church in Delaware, he enjoyed golfing and playing softball when he was able, as well as a favorite beverage or two. An avid fan of all sports and NASCAR, he was a beloved Buckeye fan. Kind hearted and at times an agitator. He looked forward to a good game of rummy. He had no problem taking your money, and cheated if necessary to win. Ornery and patient, he loved in his own way. He had a passion for mowing his yard, all four acres and sometimes four times a week, needed or not. Bill looked forward to Sunday morning breakfast and spending time with his treasured family, especially his grandchildren. He met the love of his life at the Sunshine Park in Columbus; Margaret "Peggy" Morgan would become his wife of 61 years. They loved to dance the jitterbug. Together they also shared in the dance of life together, as she was the love of his life the "Peg of His Heart". Sadly she passed in 2010. He will be dearly missed by children, Sandi Sheets of Columbus, William (Chris) Huffman of Marysville, John (Janice) Huffman of Marysville, James (Rhonda) Huffman of Ostrander, Thomas (Romina) Huffman of Delaware, Cindy (Rick) Brinkley of Delaware; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also preceded in death by daughter Melody Huffman, son-in-law George Sheets, grandchildren Kathy, Cole, and Daniel, great-grandson Aiden, and sister Elizabeth Cosgrove. Friends may call Tuesday 5-8 p.m. prayer services 7:30 p.m. at the SNYDER-RODMAN FUNERAL CENTER, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Church in Delaware with Rev. Michael B. Watson Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, PO Box1245, Albert Lea, MN 56007. Condolences may be expressed at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com

Although I never got to know you well, it is obvious you were a special person ~ your son John is proof of that. May you rest in peace with those who have gone before you, especially Peg. And if there are yards to mow in heaven, I'm sure you will be in charge of them!

Pick up your crown and sit by your queen,
she'll whisper to you of the mysteries of truth
and love
and things unseen

You tilled and toiled under many summer suns,
the times changed and now is the time for rest in the heavens above.
Rest, yes, rest easy
with loved ones.

Eight-seven years is a long time, but your legacy has just begun.
Children, grandchildren, great granchildren and their little ones,
too

We'll trace back and see where we came from
through you.

thank you for all you've done.

In life, few are- and fewer realize
that they are lucky
that they are blessed

and for us,
on a man's shoulders
much of this fortune rests
