My husband & I stopped by Cloene's home today to say hello when a neighbor told us that Cloene had passed away several months ago. The last time we visited was a year ago at this time. I am a second cousin to Cloene through the Edwards family as our grandmothers were sisters. May she rest in peace. R. Perkins-Boyer

My wife and I stopped by Sammy's South 6th Street Residence yesterday (May 17, 2012). A neighbor was out and I inquired about her and she shared the news of her passing. "Sammy" and I shared paths for about two years and I was grateful. We parted on very good terms and with great peace however, the parting came after a misunderstanding of which I still regret. I was thankful to have met her and even though this entry comes several months after her passing my thoughts are with the family. Sammy had a very strong will which even though at times was a challenge, it was a trait I admired. She lived a full life and saw many changes and seemingly had no fear. I remember driving her to Vinton on a June day and while winding through the country roads she would point here and point there and recount what once use to be there or who once owned that farm and so forth. She would be proud to know that I eventually became a German Village resident. . . and even though I am late I will mourn your passing. God bless the family.

I just received notice of Sammy's death. I remember Sammy from Ohio Bell in Columbus. We worked together and were good friends. She was greatly admired by my family. She was a funny, wise and a wonderful friend-we were able to just pick up and talk-no matter how long it had been since we last spoke. She will be missed.

I was saddened to learn of "Sammy's" death. Her wonderful sense of humor and joyous laughter will always be fondly remembered. She was a tireless worker in German Village causes and others as well. Having had the good fortune to know her these forty plus years is a treasure. She was one of a kind and a pleasure to call a friend. She will be missed by those who greatly enjoyed her company.

We are deeply saddened to learn of "Sammy's" death. We were her alley neighbors for seven years and shared many a laugh and good time with her over dinner, a martini, trips to the store and just talking over the fence. She will always be remembered for her generosity and her family is in our thoughts and prayers.

My sympathy to Cloene's family. I am also a member of the Columbus Soroptimist club and while I never had the chance to meet her, the foundation she helped lay for the club many years ago is alive and well and will be remembered as we celebrate our 60th anniversary in 2012. Thanks Cloene for all your work and dedication to Soroptimist International. The women you helped along the way truly appreciate your past dedication.
