Darrell Funk Obituary

FUNK Darrell Leo Funk, 56, of Pickerington. A funeral service honoring his life will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 11 a.m., in the chapel of the HOSKINSON FUNERAL HOME, Kirkersville, with Pastor Stolzenberg as celebrant. Burial with full military honors by the Licking County Veterans Alliance will follow at Kirkersville Cemetery. Darrell died suddenly, Friday, July 30, 2010 at his home in Pickerington. He was born September 6, 1953 in Columbus, the son of the late Leo David and Mildrey Elizabeth (Stanford) Funk. He was a 1972 graduate of Eastmoor High School, served honorably in the US Navy 1973-1975 and was a retiree of American Electric Power after 33 years of service. He was a Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and an avid boater; along with being a member of American Legion Post 283 Pickerington and the American Legion Riders. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 24 years, Cindy; his daughter, Elissa Lynn (Mike) Shivers of Hilliard; his granddaughter, Julia Shivers; his brothers, David Wayne Funk, Leo David (Lynne) Funk and Arthur Funk; his sister-in-law, Vicky Love-Lindsey; and brother-in-law, Bruce Love; several nieces and nephews; along with multiple family members in Florida. His family will receive friends on Monday, August 2, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 E. Main St. in Kirkersville, where an on-line guest register is available at www.hoskinsonfuneral.com Friends may also call on Tuesday one hour prior to the services at 11 a.m. The family has requested that memorial contributions in Darrell's memory be directed to Pickerington Post #283 of the American Legion for the Viet Nam moving wall. Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, is honored to care for the Funk Family.
