Daryl Bernecker Obituary

BERNECKER Daryl Scott Bernecker, age 55, died unexpectedly at home in Adolphus, KY on January 9, 2011. He was born December 28, 1955 in Lockport, NY to the late Robert Bernecker, Jr. and Velma Hyde Bernecker and a 1974 graduate of Newfane HS. He enlisted in the US Navy and trained at their Submarine School in Groton, CT. As an electrician he was stationed aboard the nuclear submarine USS Plunger based out of San Diego and was awarded a National Defense Medal and honorably discharged in July, 1978. He worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport before moving to Dublin, OH where he worked as a field engineer for Bell and Howell, for over 24 years. He left Columbus in 2008 moving to Adolphus where he took pride and pleasure in his new home and spacious property. He is survived by his mother, Velma Bernecker of Newfane; two sisters, Sheila (David) McClew of South Lebanon, OH and Laura Jean (Robert) Gabriele of Ransomville, NY; along with nieces and nephews, Mason and Melanie McClew of Worthington and Anthony, Alyssa and Gillian Gabriele. Arrangements for a memorial service to honor Daryl have not been finalized. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Heart Assoc.

I worked with Daryl at Kodak and attended many training classes with him. My condolences to the family. He will be missed.
