Dorothy A. Telfer

1922 - 2014

Telfer (Ponzio) Splendora (Ponzio) aka Dorothy A. Telfer, age 92, of Upper Arlington, peacefully passed away after a month- long illness on Sunday, December 14, 2014. The oldest of six, she was born in Youngstown, Ohio on June 20, 1922. Dorothy was a graduate of East High School in Youngstown. Before she married, Dorothy worked in the lab at Northside Hospital in Youngstown. She married her beloved friend and husband, the late Donald McGill Telfer on May 28, 1955. Dorothy loved to cook, bake, and go to the grocer to examine the produce. Above all her granddaughter Danielle was her world and she was fiercely loyal and protective of those she cared about. She is survived by her loving daughter, Deborah "Deb" Telfer; the apple of her eye granddaughter, Danielle McGill Telfer; special niece, Luann Rulli; brother-in-law, John "Peno" Stanek; other nieces, nephews, and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and parents August and Carmela (Martucci) Ponzio, along with siblings Lucy Stanek, Teresa Geveras, Salvatore Ponzio, Carlo Ponzio, and Mary Ponzio. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., where the family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Celebrant Andrew Hoover officiating.
