Eileen M. Foley

FOLEY Eileen M. Foley, born March 7, 1939 at Yonkers, N.Y., died at Columbus, Ohio on September 30, 2011. She was preceded in death by many members of her wonderful Irish-Catholic family, including, her parents, Declan and Margaret (O'Brien) Foley; her brothers, Declan (M.D.) and Edward; her grandmother, "Nanny" Catherine Mansfield O'Brien; her very special aunt, "Pidgie" Bridget Agnes O'Brien; her uncle and aunt, James and Mary (O'Brien) Curran; her cousin, James (Fra. Joachim) Curran; and other close relatives and friends. Indeed, she "did not look like a mathematician." She followed a career through St. Joseph's School, Blessed Sacrament Academy (Yonkers), the College of New Rochelle, Fordham University, The Ohio State University, Steven's Institute of Technology and other specialized institutions. Breaker of a number of glass ceilings in Mathematics and Computer Science, she was somewhat redirected in life by Multiple Sclerosis. She is survied by her brothers, Patrick (Kathleen) of Columbus and William (Linda) of White Plains, N.Y.; her nieces nd nephew, Meghan Foley, Kathleen (Donald) Coffey, Kelly (George) Campbell, Debra (Christopher) Spennicchia, Tara Foley and Declan Foley; the children of those nieces, her very special cousins, the Currans, and a very, very special friend, Nancy White. Family and friends will gather at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 474 S. Roys Ave. at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. with Fr. Stan Benecki. Interment will be with her parents and brothers at the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yonkers, N.Y.
