Elmer Whalen Obituary

WHALEN Elmer J. Whalen, 89, of Venice, Fla., died November 5, 2005 in Venice. He was born March 18, 1916 in Riverton, Ill. and moved to Venice in 1991 from Columbus, Oh. He was a Certified Public Accountant and co-founder of the accounting firm of Whalen & Co. with his wife, Geraldine, 60 years ago and is still in practice in Columbus today. He was a member of the Public Accounting Society of Ohio. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the U.S. Navy, a 32nd degree Mason and member of Linden Lodge #637, Columbus Scottish Rite, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Valley of Columbus, the Aladdin Shriners of Columbus and a member of the Kiwanis in Columbus and a founder of Kiwanis Little League Softball. Survivors include a daughter, Maggie (Tom) Dahl of Venice; sons, Jim (Michelle) Whalen of Bradenton and Jedd (Betsy) Whalen of Venice and Columbus; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 26, 2005, 1 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1450 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, Oh. Reception immediately following at Whalen & Company Offices in Worthington, Oh. Interment will be in Blendon Township Cemetery, Westerville, Oh. EWING FUNERAL HOME, Venice, Fla. in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Assn., 471 E. Broad St., Suite 1630, Columbus, Oh. 43215.

My sympathy to you, we bowled together many years ago, my daughter L etti baby sit for your boys, remember when you had your daughter, we all lived in Linden, we lived on McGUFFEY RD. Reg died in 1967 in S.C. do you remember?
