Eric Bretz, age 28, walked a journey of fitness and faith. Our son loved bodybuilding, but his devotion to the Lord was his true strength. He inspired those around him with his kindness, warmth, and infectious laugh, leading many people to call Eric their cherished friend. He was born on February 4, 1992 in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Grandview Heights High School in 2010. He eventually made his way to Jacksonville, Florida – soaking in the warm weather and many friendships while working as crew leader at Docks, Decks & More. It was Eric's most heartfelt hope that all of his loved ones would kindle a love and relationship with Jesus Christ, just as he had. "Our eternity is the common denominator that will always bind us together," he told one of his cousins just four months before he passed away. And that's why we are not saying "goodbye" to Eric Bretz now; it's only "see you later," The Lord called him home a little early, but we will be with him again. Mourning his loss are his loving parents, Judy and Don Bretz; aunts, Carolyn Bretz, Jan Ashbrook, and Peg Alexis; uncle, Tom Alexis; grandmother, Ann Ashbrook; cousins, Sarah Ashbrook, Chris (Andrea) Alexis, and Ryan (Meg) Alexis; and many other family members and friends. Due to Covid a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Young Life of Columbus, which is establishing a scholarship in Eric's memory at 1200 Chambers Road #301, Columbus, Ohio 43212.
