It is in the time of sorrow that life's are changed. I never had an opportunity to really get to know my father, but it doesn't change the hurt and void I feel knowing I will never have that chance. 12 years later, I am getting married and wish I had the chance to dance with my father. My most cherished memory of my father is of the times when I was very young visiting with him and Janice and drinking pepsi from the bottle. Gone but not forgotten........

My heartfelt sympathy goes to you Janice and your family during this difficult time. It was a random meeting on a softball field that led to a wonderful friendship. Erkie's sense of humor and his desire to make things around him better will be sorely missed.

To the Family of Erkie,
I cannot believe that he's gone, but please know that he rests in the
Hands of a Just God.
As a friend, co-worker, and former softball opponent and later, fellow teammate, I truly valued his friendship, easy smile, jokes and neverending stories of old times...I cannot listen to another version of any song by WAR, or drive by another softball diamond without thinking of Erkie.
Please accept my families deepest condolences as we'll continue to keep your family in our prayers...

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. I will remember "Erkie" as a friend and fellow "Mighty Mighty Tiger". The few times I played baseball in Franklin Park,I always tried to make sure I was on Erkie's team!He will be sadly missed.
