Fred Bracilano Obituary

BRACILANO Rev. Fred Bracilano Sr., age 80, passed away on Sunday morning, January 27, 2008, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Dottie Bracilano; his 4 children, Fred Jr., David, Linda, and Peter; and his 7 grandchildren, Zoe, Tove, Anna, Lena, Tony, Coen, and Maria. The remaining family members reside in Seattle, Washington and Chicago, Illinois. Fred Sr. began his life in New York City where he was accepted at Columbia University at age 16 to study economics. After a brief service in the Navy, he returned to school, received his degree, and met his wife. His first job out of school was managing Lerner's Department Store in New York City. After serving Lerner's for 25 years in stores across the country, he was called, at the age of 46, to devote his service to the Lord. Fred resigned from his position with the company in Cincinnati and enrolled in Methodist Theological Seminary in Delaware. Fred began his ministry in Zanesfield, Ohio and later served at Maple Grove, Fairborn, Bethel, New Carlisle, and North Broadway. Fred never missed the score of a Cincinnati Red's or Bengal's game and loved to play bridge. He was always fascinated with finance and was an avid follower of the stock market. He and his wife loved to travel and spent their time together exploring and experiencing everything the world had to offer, both physically and spiritually. Fred was logical, grounded and fearless until his very last day on earth. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Memorial Service will be held at North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 East North Broadway Ave., Columbus, OH 43214 on Wednesday 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received at 10 a.m. A reception will be immediately after service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Broadway United Methodist Church; and Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, 4343 Dublin Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026. Dear Friends,
It is with sadness that I write this note. Fred and you Dottie ministered to so many over the years. I remember when you all went to St Louis to United Methodist General Conference back in 1988.
Another fun time was when you went up to Indian Lake and Fred was riding the "ski Bob" and fell in the water ! Fred laughed after that. He was a fun man !
More importantly, Fred was a person of Faith ! He preached it and lived it !
My prayers are with you all. He was a Saint !
Blessings,
Rev. Rev Jon K Sayers

Aunt Dottie, I hope you are doing well. I'm not sure which emotion to express first. I was so sad to hear that Uncle Fred passed on, but at the same time I was so glad to hear that he had some time with his family by his side. It may sound strange, but knowing what family meant to Uncle Fred, I imagine he was the happiest man in the world to have that time with you and his children. I hope all of you can take comfort in that thought. Please let Fred, David, Linda and Peter know I'm thinking of them as well. Take care of yourself and God bless you.

Dear Fred Bracilano,

I have promised you in Riverside Hospital that I would tell your friends how we met. Although I don’t have time to talk at your memory and service day, Right now, I am going to share this story to your friends that they want to share with you.

Fred and I first met in Holiday Inn in summer time around year of 2002, because we were the swimming club members. We met almost three to four times a week but we were only just “say hello” but nothing to talk. One day, Fred was very friendly come to talk to me but I so nervous to replied him that because of my English communication skill is not such good, moreover, I did not know whether people understood me. Therefore, I did not want to talk. As a result, I did have a hard time to make friend. But, Fred so kind and very friendly came to me and encourages me to talk to him and he was very patient to listening what I said. After that, he would courteous point out my mistake and taught me how to do it right.

Fred is also a very good heart person, when I need to find a job; Fred helped me to consult my resume letter at once although he was busy. I have remembered that one time I was very disappointed to tell Fred that I did not get that job I just applied. Then, Fred drove me that company and asked the recruiter the reason why I could not been employed. The recruiter told Fred that because I did not provide the information about passed six months why did not show any working records. So, I learned a lesson from this case. Without Fred helped me to find the answer, I shall never know. From we don’t know each other until we become a good friend; Fred shared my happiness and my hard time. He is not only my good friend and also is my good teacher too. I respect him very much and very appreciated what he did to me.

Right now, Fred is in the heaven with God. He is staring his new life in heaven where we all will go there in a future. Again, Fred thank you very much your kindness and you are so friendly to me, I will not forget you. And you will always in my mind.

Dear Dottie,
This may be a second entry, for I must have pressed the wrong button and lost what I was sending. But I want you to know that I was shocked and saddened to learn of Fred's death. So sorry that I will not be able to attend the service on Wednesday, but I will certainly be thinking of you.
