Gary Sigrist Obituary

SIGRIST Gary Leo Sigrist, Sr., age 71, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 8, 2006. Preceded in death by wife of 38 years, June Kathleen (Hart) Sigrist and granddaughter Meghann Kathleen Clark. He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Patti Sexton Sigrist; brother, Ron (Darlene) Sigrist; sister, Claudia McNiff; sister, Erma (Jack) Bowersock; children, Kate (Joe) Clark, Rita (Ed) Osborn, Gary (Karen) Sigrist, Mark (Melissa) Sigrist, Mary (Bryan) Mulvany, Beth Sigrist, Tony (Madeline) Sigrist, Annie "Pooh Bear" (Chuck) Durbin, Andrea (Jon) Kochensparger, Chip (Josephine) Sexton. He leaves behind his eighteen grandchildren who loved and adored him, Joey, Sam and Lan Clark, Teddy and Michael Gary Osborn, Gary III, Andrew and Andrea Sigrist, Alex, Adam and Emily Sigrist, Bryan, Kevin, Brandon and Molly Mulvany, Alexis and Morgan Sigrist, Nick Durbin and grandson, AJ Sexton VI (due to arrive September 2006); many good friends, and numerous nieces, nephews and their parents, who loved their "Uncle Gary" and have many wonderful memories of good times at his home on White Road and on family vacations together. Gary graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1952, and served in the Air Force from 1953 until 1957. He retired from Ohio Bell Telephone and Saxton Real Estate. He owned and operated Hall of Frame Studios where he photographed hundreds of kids and their families. If you were ever on the other side of his lens, he got you to smile and you never forgot his charm. Gary's legacy lives on in his extensive involvement in his community. He loved Grove City and saw it as a great place to live and raise a family. He began the "I love Grove City" Campaign years ago. Gary was instrumental in bringing to fruition the Grove City's Farmer Market, Boo on Broadway, and the annual Town Center Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony. He was a past president of the Catholic Men's Club of Central Ohio, past president of the Grove City Chamber of Commerce and past President of the Grove City Visitors and Convention Bureau. He was a staunch supporter of South-Western City Schools and took great pride in the fact that his children and grandchildren graduated from SWCS. Gary loved Little Theater off Broadway and it is his wish that any donations be made in his memory to Little Theater Off Broadway, P.O. Box 504, Grove City, Ohio 43123. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2006, from 2-8 p.m. at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio, with the service on Monday, September 11, 2006, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 1559 Roxbury Rd., Columbus, OH. I was taken aback when I heard of Mr. Sigrist's passing. I have known him for many years, he took the photos for the Grove City's ROTC for years and did my brother's senior pictures...He will be missed my thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Sigrist family. Although I had known Gary for only a little over a year, he was one of the most dynamic personalities I have ever met. His love and pride in his family is carried in each one of you...you are his legacy. May God hold you in His arms and help you through this loss.

What a blessing your family has been in my life growing up next door when you lived in Berea, Ohio. I have many, many great memories of the Sigrist clan. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your husband, father, grandfather.

To the Sigrist Family,

Your father was a great man, and he loved many people. That in itself is all the legacy any of us can aspire to have.
