I will never forget all the good times and memories with George and will always treasure them. His health took a big toll on him for the last 6 years, now he can rest and be in peace, and be with his friends and cross over the rainbow bridge and be with his buddy dog smokey, who he loved and miss very much.

I was sad to hear of George's passing. Although I had not seen him in several years the memories of teasing him and laughing with him are etched in my mind as though it was yesterday. Some of my favorites were the multiple times he would lock himself out of the house but one time in particular he locked himself out while wearing only his skivvies and managed to step in doggie doo doo while pounding on the door for someone to rescue him. Another was observing a meal he was eating where his steak was so big, it covered his entire plate yet the others at the dinner table had only a petite little chicken leg. Didn't bother George at all. When I asked him about it he just tended to his steak like it was nobody's business!! We loved teasing him about his "heart attack on a plate" breakfasts he would eat but George ignored us, living life to his fullest. I loved being able to bring a smile to his face when he tried so hard to be mature and serious. Eventually he would crack and get himself laughing up a storm! It seemed like there was always a "George Story" waiting to unfold. I'm blessed to have known him and my thoughts and prayers are with the family. He was such a good man and will be truly missed. I hope he eats all of the red meat and bacon that he wants up in Heaven.

What a character George Byrd was. I have fond memories of George when I was a teen and young adult. The many Saturdays and Sundays spent out back of Colonial Towing in the big garden George let my father and I have during the Srping, Summer, and Fall months, will be cherished forever. His sense of humor will be missed greatly; RIP old friend.

I have so many memories of George that it is hard to just go with one. George was a character with a good sense of humor and loved to play jokes on people too. He was very caring and did not think twice about helping someone out that needed it. He loved fishing and boating, golfing with his friends in Florida (where he spent a lot of his time), playing euchre, riding his bike in the park at Blue Cypress in Florida, watching old war movies that his brother Dale would make for him, watching game shows, history channel, and can't forget football. It better had been important if you plan to interrupt him during football. George enjoyed coming back home to Delaware to see all his friends and extended family. Back in the day one of George's favorite places to eat was The Branding Iron that was owned by a dear friend of his Stubby Bowen. The two of them were hilarious together and talking about some of the crazy things they had done. His two favorite places he spoke of all the time is Lake Cumberland and Lake Okeechobee. He would always talk about Dale and Julie's place in Lake Cumberland. A fond memory I have of George is the day I got married July 8 2000 and I had asked George to give me away at my wedding he would on one condition that he would not wear a tux. Well, needless to say I tricked him and said it was a suit (don't think he knew the difference until he put the tie on). He did wear the tux that he looked very handsome in it. He complained the entire time but deep down he liked it as everyone gave him compliments on how handsome he looked. Over the 15 years we (me and my family) spent with George we all have so many great memories, funny moments that we will cherish forever. He will be sadly missed by so many people both in Ohio and Florida. May you rest in peace George being with the people you most longed for and the pain you felt over the last two years be lifted so you can live again.
