SPIRES George Ambrose Spires, Jr. A funeral service celebrating the life of George Ambrose Spires, Jr., 78, of Millersport, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of the HOSKINSON FUNERAL HOME, Kirkersville, with Rev. Fr. James Ogurchock as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Kirkersville Cemetery. George died Thursday, December 3, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 18, 1931 in Columbus, the son of the late George A. and Grace Elizabeth (Gallagher) Spires. He was a graduate of Holy Rosary H.S., and served honorably with the US Navy. He was employed as an electrician with Local #683, I.B.E.W. for 55 years. He was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Columbus. He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Janice (Fabing), whom he married on January 25, 1958; his children, Bryon (Grace) Spires, Charles (Julie) Spires and Treva Bailey; nine grandchildren; his sisters, Jean Armintrout, Joan (Donald) Finneron; and brother, Hugh "Bud" (Darlene) Spires. Among his many interests George enjoyed his pilots license, the Hot Rod Club, Columbus Aqua Ski Club, boat racing, but most of all fishing off the dock at his home on Buckeye Lake. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Gerald Spires, Lucille Guehl, Eileen Garrison, Ruth Frost and great-granddaughter Lauren Sophia Bailey. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions be directed to the foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, 621 W Broad St., Suite 2A, Pataskala, Ohio 43062. His family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. prior to the Funeral Service at the funeral home, 285 E.
