Gerald "Jerry" W. Woodard, 89, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021. He was born on May 18, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Walter M. and Harriet L. (nee Curran) Woodard. Jerry graduated from Kirkland High School. He went onto further his education at The Ohio State University earning his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting a Master's Degree in Economics. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. Jerry married the love of his life, the former Edna Ann Wuertz on August 8, 1954. He retired after more than 30 years as Vice President and Treasurer of Nationwide Insurance & Financial Related companies. Jerry was a devoted member Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, National Association of Corporate Treasures, Who's Who in Finance, Who's Who in American, and numerous national and local organizations. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Sue (Tony) Buckles of Carmel, Indiana and Phyllis Jean Malchow of Urbana, Missouri; two sons, James A. (Phaedra) Woodard of Mount Vernon, Ohio and Brian David Woodard of Columbus; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Nila Woodard of Ashland. In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Edna Woodard who passed away on October 20, 2008, and one brother Dr. Eugene Woodard. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 12noon in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Kevin McClain officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery, where the Ashland Veteran's Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 11am-12pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association. For those unable to online condolences may be shared on the funeral home's website at denbowfh.com. Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.

Linda- So sorry to hear of your loss. My Mom shared the notification and so sorry for the late note. Your father was so special to me, in fact, both of your parents were such an important part of my life for years. I hope you and your family are well and please share my condolences.
