SOMMERS Gregory Joseph Sommers, age 54, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2011. He was born in Columbus on July 28, 1956, to the late Robert E. and Dolores M. (Specht) Sommers. After attending Holy Spirit Parochial School, Greg graduated from Bishop Hartley High School in 1974. He made deliveries for Michael's Meats for many years, and then became a jewelry salesperson for Jerry Flag. Most recently, he was the Internet Sales Manager for Bob Caldwell Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram. Greg was an artist, and he greatly enjoyed painting, drawing, and photography. He also liked working out, and health and fitness were very important to him. He valued his relationships, and he is survived by his son, Christopher A. Sommers; and his mother, Tamala T. Sommers; his soulmate, Kimberly S. King; siblings, Scott (Shelley) Sommers, Suzanne Reihing, Stephanie Sommers, Vicki (Michael) Poliseno, and Mary Lee Massara (Vincent); lifelong friends, Ed Artis, Bill Phillips, Geoff Stein, Tom Bosworth, and Richard Hoffman; and many nieces, nephews, and their extended families. He was preceded in death by his sister Michele Shull. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 17, at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Greg's name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
