I miss you, Gwen

I just heard about Gwen's passing. I worked with Gwen for three years at Olde Orchard Elementary School Latchkey. Gwen cared so much about everyone. She was SO creative and artistic. She went out of her way to provide the best projects for all the children in the program. And boy did she know how to throw a party! And hers were always the best. We made each other laugh every day. One of my fondest memories was when Gwen and I were preparing chocolate fondue in the teacher's lounge with a sterno burner and there was a plastic table cloth underneath that caught fire. Frantically, Gwen and I were trying to put it out - we finally just threw an entire bucket of water on the whole thing! I know that Gwen is upstairs right now throwing a luau and smiling. Malaika, your mom was SO proud of you. I will dearly miss her.

Malaika,
My deepest prayers and thoughts are sent to you and your family during this time and beyond. We have not talked in years; since we modeled together for Mrs. Verna Wood-Adams. I treasured the times that I shared with you and your mother.

Malaika, When I saw your mom's obituary I was shocked. We haven't kept in touch, but I know how close you two are in spirit. Hold on to what you know is true. You're in my prayers.

Malaika, what I remember most about your mother was her beautiful smile and her love for you. I can't remember a conversation with Gwen that she didn't talk about you and how talented you were. I will be praying for you and your family that God will comfort and strengthen you and bring you hope and understanding. "For He hath said, 'I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.'" Hebrews 13:5
