1931 - 2021
Harry L. Payne Sr., of Santee, CA, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2021. He was 89. Harry was born on June 17, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio. He attended East HS in Columbus. He joined the Army and fought in the Korean War, receiving a Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Columbus to work for the US Postal Service being named Postmaster in Circleville, Ohio. Harry also had a long entrepreneurial career in Real Estate and IT. In 1978, Harry retired to Santee, California and continued his IT Business for many years. Harry married June Louise Pavlik, the love of his life, on April 27, 1972. Harry was a 58-year friend of Bill W. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Eva Payne, his brothers John Payne (JP) and Buddy Payne, sisters Malvia Smith and Leotha Overby and 1st wife Hildegard Sachse Payne. He is survived by his wife, June Louise; sisters, Kay Henry and Betty Young; children, William (Tony) Payne (Linda), Harry Payne (Ann), Richard Payne, Monica Corey (Bob); grandchildren, Kendra Muntz (Bill), Anthony Payne (Ciara), Marcus Payne, Robert Corey III. Harry is also survived by many nephews, nieces and friends. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed help. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Rest in peace. Uncle Harry was a gem. He always made time for me and made me feel special in his presence. My favorite memory was the trip we took to Tijuana and the beach.

Did not know Harry that long. But when we talked, Harry would make you feel like you knew him his entire life. Wonderful brother and friend of Bill W. Harry will be very much missed.

I absolutely loved Harry & his wife. He was like a father to me and I was always welcomed in their home. I am so happy I shared so many memories with Harry. God Blessed us for lending him to is and making sure he showed so many people in AA the utter enthusiasm he had. Thanks Harry...I love you Junelouise and if you ever need anything I'm here. It was my pleasure making sure all of you accomdationst in Akron, Ohio evety year.
