Garner Harvey L. Garner, Ph.D., age 86 of Delaware, OH, a kind, loving, generous father and friend to all, died Sunday, March 24, 2013. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Yvonne L. "Bonnie" Garner. Survived by children, Susan (Gary) Sommerville and H. Thomas Garner; sister, Margaret Brewer; grandchildren, Jason (Renata) Sommerville and Becca (Lee) Richards; great-grandchildren, Tobias, Zachary, Eliana and Miriam Sommerville. Graduate of Denver University and the University of Michigan. Professor of Electrical Engineering and Communication Sciences at U of M. Dean of the Moore School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. Professor of Engineering at The University of Texas. Veteran U.S. Navy WWII. Harvey was an avid skier and private pilot who loved classical music, Bridge and lived life to the fullest. Memorial Service 2 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013 at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 7521 South Old State Road, Lewis Center, OH 43035. Reception to follow the service. Susan, My deepest condolences to you in the loss of your dear Dad. He had a long struggle, but is at peace now. His indomitable spirit and inexhaustible energy and intellect were an inspiration to all.

I and my wife have known Gary and Susan and their family for over 35 years and kinder and nicer folks just don't exist on this planet. I have only spoken to Mr. Garner a few times and he too exemplified kindness and additionally, the true spirit of how a gentleman speaks and behaves. Our thoughts and prayers go to Gary and Sue during this time.
