Helen Leach Obituary

LEACH Helen Sharpe Leach, age 88, died Friday, August 20, 2010 of heart failure. Helen attended Womans College in Greensboro, NC and Queens College in Charlotte, NC. She was a member of Bexley Methodist Church in Columbus, acted as a circle leader, was a member of TWIG, and the Melody Unit of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Most recently, she was a member of Central College Presbyterian Church in Westerville, OH and Naples United Church of Christ in Florida. She was also a member of Themis (ladies organization of the Lawyer's Club), Women's Auxiliary of the Columbus Bar Association, and various bridge groups. Helen enjoyed needlepoint, gardening at Buckeye Lake, OH, and collecting shells along Naples, Florida beaches. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Russell Leach, her parents Terry and Gertrude Sharpe of Greensboro, NC., her sisters Lucile Long of Columbia, SC., and Alma Garlow and Evelyn Bumgarner of Greensboro, NC. She is survived by her children, Susan Snyder and husband, James, Terry Leach, and Ann Samuelson and husband, Brian; sister-in-law, Jane Webster; grandchildren, Charles, Carrie, Kyle, Kate, and Kelly; numerous nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews; and many friends. Public visitation will be at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Upper Arlington, OH, on Friday, August 27 from 4-6 p.m. The Funeral Ceremony will be on Saturday, August 28 at 10 a.m. at Central College Presbyterian Church, 975 S. Sunbury Rd., Westerville, OH. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Helen was a firm believer in donating to charities. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
