Herbert Keller Obituary

KELLER Herbert Myron "Herbie" Keller, age 77, died peacefully on November 3, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. A proud WWII veteran, Herbie was originally from Herron Hill, Pittsburgh, and raised his family in Monroeville, PA. He had been a resident of Columbus for the past ten years. He is survived by his children, Lisa (Ralph Gallina), Mark (Sue), Erin (Marc Fagin), Sean (Anne-Marie) and Janice (Jim Winnegrad); 11 grandchildren; sister, Anne Bellman; and brother, Leonard. Herb fought for social justice and advocated for human rights his entire life. He was a man of many talents, a world traveler, and passionate about politics. He was a true Renaissance Man – active in theatre, a student of languages, music, philosophy, religion, history, and world affairs. He touched so many lives, and he was beloved by all who knew him. He lived on his own terms and his character was genuine and unique. Herb was a devoted activist, thespian, poet, and father. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, November 5, 2006 at THEEPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main Street, with Rabbi Harold Berman officiating. Burial to follow at the New Tifereth Israel Cemetery. Shiva will be observed Sunday - Tuesday evenings at the Fagin residence. I was so sad to hear about Herbie. I met him only a couple of times but he seemed like such a nice man - so full of life and love. My daughter, Sam adored him. We know how close Abby was to him and we only wish we could ease her pain and help her through this time. This has been such a difficult year for the family and I feel for you all. Know that we are thinking of you and praying for you and are there in any way we can help.
