Herman Thornton Obituary

THORNTON Herman Thornton, age 80, passed away July 2, 2006 at Sunrise of Bexley after a lengthy illness. Born April 7, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio. Member Of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Employed 37 years with the City of Columbus Water Treatment Department. Preceded in death by parents Mike and Lucy Thornton, spouse Mabel Thornton, siblings Evelyn Tucker and Donald Thornton. Survived by aunt, Anna Ragland; siblings, Josephine Burden, James (Betty) Thornton, Cyril Thornton, Mike (Joann) Thornton Jr., Nadine Howell, Rachel (Ronald) Bradley, Aaron Thornton, Carole (John) Darling; children, Brenda (Willie) Davis, Columbus, Oh., Donna (Lawrence) Mattison, Travelers Rest, S.C., Herman (Pamela) Thornton, Columbus, Oh.; grandchildren, Christiana Grace, Brent (Tricia) Roberts, Angelic Davis; and 5 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 2283 Sunbury Rd. Rev. Donald Washington officiating. Family will receive friends From 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial Glen Rest Memorial Estates. Arrangements entrusted to GARY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 867 S. James Rd. Family may be contacted at 614-542-1772.
