Hugh Nelson Obituary

Nelson Hugh W. Nelson passed away March 6, 2014. He was born May 16, 1928 to Josephine Lilly Nelson and Charles S. Nelson. He grew up in Upper Arlington with his brother Roger, and graduated high school in 1946. He graduated from OSU Commerce College in 1950. Following service in the US Naval Air Corp, Hugh earned his law degree from OSU. Most of his law career was spent in Worker's Comp and OSHA. He was an entrepreneur and spent time teaching at Capital and Franklin Universities, as a small business owner, and as a property manager. Hugh had two sons who survive him, Charles (Sherry) and Joseph (Becky). He had five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and many great grand children. He modeled hard work and taught us the difference between a "good job and a pretty good job". He loved singing, especially Italian and Irish songs. He enjoyed bowling, classic movies, and his dog Romeo. Dad spent his last days at The Forum at Knightsbridge Memory Care. He was comfortable, supported and loved. Thanks to the care givers there and at both Odyssey and Tridia Hospice. Mike you gave us a gift and became Dad's friend and our brother. Dad accepted Christ as his savior late in life. He rests in our Lords arms, with a new body and a new mind. Pop, you are forever in our hearts... until we meet again. There will be a memorial service for family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make any desired contributions in Hugh's name to The Forum at Knightsbridge Memory Care, 4625 Knightsbridge Blvd., Columbus, OH 43214. All funds will forward to the Alzheimer's Association.

Dear Family of Hugh Nelson,
I only saw this today after trying to search for your dad. My Father, Paul Santora was a treasured friend to your Dad. They spent many years together having some lively debates and enjoying each others company while they owned units at the Gulfcoast Inn in Naples , Florida.
Dad missed not hearing from Hugh in his later years, we did not know about his illness. I just wanted you to know that my father appreciated Hugh's company and the friendship he offered my Dad especially after my mother passed away.He was very attentive to my Dad in helping him when he was disabled. He called my Dad "El"Capitan" and they would salute each other...It brings a smile to my face thinking about the two of them discussing the world issues of the Gulfcoast Inn!! Now I know that Dad and Hugh are carrying on their debates in Heaven...as my dad passed away in 2013. I will pass this notice to other friends who had wondered about Hugh. God Bless you all,
Donna Santora-Anderson
