Isaac Bishop Obituary

BISHOP Isaac Wesley Bishop, age 86, of Grove City, passed away December 8, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Joyce Burns Bishop. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grove City. He was a World War II Veteran who served as a radio operator in many bombing missions. He proudly wore his World War II Veteran's Cap this last Veteran's Day. He had a gusto for life and will leave a legacy of traditions. Family memories and his sense of humor. His stories will be repeated for many years by those who heard them more than once! He will be sadly missed by his 8 loving children, 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He was such an inspiration to all as he plans to receive a new heart valve and become "part of history" by undergoing a new, experimental procedure. However, it was not in God's plan for him. He loved his community, church, and especially his neighbors who considered him part of their family. He is survived by his eight children, Jeannette, Jim, Jackie, Joel, Jerry, Jill, Jay, and John; and sister, Jane Straw. He was a retired auditor from Defense Construction Supply Center and H&R Block. The family had an informal gathering on Friday, December 10th for the immediate family and friends at the home of Jim Bishop. There will be a Celebration of Life for both of our parents in the spring following a Memorial Service for Donors, for the "Gifts That Teach" program at the Ohio State University. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Division of Anatomy at 279 Hamilton Hall, 1646 Neil Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43210.Visit www.schoedinger.com to share a favorite memory of Isaac. Arrangements entrusted to the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 615-875-6333.

Dear Bishop Family, your father was a remarkable man. I feel so blessed to have known him and his family. He had a large family of love between your mother and him. How rich he was. I had and still have so much respect and admiration for him. He was a very proud man when it came to his family. You could see it in his face. He had such strength in life which I know will be carried on by some. He was a hero for our country and for all that knew him. God Bless all of you in this time of sorrow.
