Isaiah Gates Obituary

GATES Isaiah Gates, age 89, of Orient, died Monday, January 29, 2007, at Yorkland Park Care Center. Isaiah moved to Columbus and founded Gates Auto Electric (on Parsons Ave. and later on Washington Ave.) which he operated for 30 years. He then retired to fulfill one of his dreams of traveling around the country with family and friends. His favorite destinations were Alaska and Yellowstone Park. Never one to sit around and a confirmed workaholic, Isaiah opened A&G Electric in Orient where he resided. He also served on the Board of ARC Industries as treasurer and secretary for many years. Isaiah is preceded in death by his wife Maxine and daughter Jane. He is survived by his children, Richard "Tom" Gates of Groveport, Betty Adams of Columbus, Doris Barr of Johnstown and Glenn Gates of Fl; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the SCHOEDINGER-NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where the funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Isaiah's name to Faith Mission, 315 E. Long St., Columbus, OH 43215 or Special Olympics c/o Dee Dexter-Hines, 2879 Johnstown Rd., Columbus, OH 43219. Visit www.schoedinger.com to share a special memory of Isaiah.
