1937 - 2019
James A. MacDonald born August 5, 1937 to the late Alexander and Mildred (Robinson) MacDonald, passed on March 28, 2019 at age 81. In 1964 he married the beautiful and loving Laurel Jean (Lind). He attended O.S.U. and Franklin U., and was a Professional Mechanical and Civil Engineer for the City of Columbus as a Traffic Engineer. Quick to smile, James had a quiet strength and was a kind and gentle man. His shining light touched the lives of many, and he was loved by all who knew him. He enlisted in the Army National Guard, was an accomplished race car driver, and pilot. Also a member of the Engineering Club of Columbus, Knights of Columbus, and Olympic Tennis Club for over 30 years as an avid player & instructor. His kids and grandkids were his greatest accomplishment, and he always boasted of all their special talents. James will be missed dearly, remembered in our hearts always, and through us, he will live on. James is survived by his brother Laurence (Carolyn) MacDonald, wife Laurel, 9 children: Bonnie (Bartee), Mary (Chris) Mancuso, Ann (Chris) Morrow, Allan MacDonald, Scott MacDonald, Mark (Mary) MacDonald, Jean (Traci Hatcher) MacDonald, Rose MacDonald and Glenn (Barbara Dalzell) MacDonald, 11 grandkids: Thomas James, Kimberly, Jacob, Julia, Emily, Angelea, Michael, Haillie, Elizabeth, Alexis and Jason, and numerous wonderful in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. The showing will be held at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 2693 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43204, Tuesday April 2, 2019 from 4-7 PM. And Funeral mass will be at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 4131 Clime Rd., Columbus, OH 43228, Wednesday April 3, 2019 at 10:30 AM. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at the church.

My thoughts and Prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. MacDonald. I don't believe I ever called him by his first name. He was always Mr. MacDonald to me. The father of one of my longest and dearest friends. My heart is heavy with sadness over the loss of this awesome husband and father.
