James Otis Obituary

OTIS Dr. James J. Otis, 99, of Celina, OH, died 2:47 p.m. January 3, 2013 at Joint Township Memorial Hospital, St. Mary's, OH. of natural causes. Born October 22, 1913 in Ann Harbor, Mich, son of the late Lloyd and Barbara Audritsh Otis. On October 9, 1944 he married Betty Hamel who passed away June 25, 2010. Survived by sons, Jim and Jan Otis, Chesterfield, MO; daughters, Vicki Otis, Celina, OH, Jeanie Otis Hamm, Dublin, OH, Sharon and Jim Grimaud, St. Louis, MO; sisters, Nancy Otis, Celina, OH and Guendolyn Cron, Celina, OH.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brother-in-law Ray Cron. Dr. Jim was roommate with Coach Woody Hayes at Denison University. Dr. Jim's son Jim Otis fullback Ohio State and grandson also played. Doctor in Celina for many years. Member St. Pauls United Methodist Church. Calling hours Sunday 3-6 p.m., CISCO FUNERAL HOME, Celina, Ohio, with Masonic service 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Pauls United Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Reynolds officiating. Burial North Grove Cemetery, Celina, OH. Memorial contributions to Red Cross and Mercer Co.
