Janis Jekums Obituary

Jekums Janis "John" Jekums, 60, of Columbus, Ohio died June 25, 2013. He was born October 6, 1952 to the late Janis Jekums and Maria Susselbeck Jekums. Janis was a huge Browns Fan and part of the "Dog Pound"; he was a woodsman by nature where he enjoyed fishing. He was an artist in his own right and an eclectic music lover. He was also an avid reader and great story teller. At Canal Winchester High School he played football, lettering 3 years, the team going undefeated in 1970. He served our country in the Army during Vietnam. He earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio University in 1978; Janis retired from AT&T where he worked in customer service for 20 years. He is the loving brother of Venta (Dennis) Coffey; cherished uncle of William and Tyler Coffey; Rachel Ash and Daniel Coffey; Great uncle to Carly and Miles Ash. He is the loving Pet Parent to his Cats Miss Kitty, Killer, Scooter, Bruiser and Dracula. He will be missed by many other friends. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 7 p.m. at DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY. 650 W. Waterloo St.. Canal Winchester, OH.
