Jeffrey Scott Charles

CHARLES Jeffrey Scott Charles, 62, of Gahanna died Thursday, April 14, 2011. He was born August 6, 1948 in Columbus to the late William and Dorothy Charles. He attended Brookhaven High School and was a Navy veteran serving as a cook on the USS Forrestal Navy Aircraft carrier from 1967-1969. He retired from Kal Kan Foods after twenty eight years. He attended Shepherd Nazarene Church and previously attended Christian Assembly. He worked part time for the YMCA, loved people and made it a point to always remember their names. He supported his neighbors and friends, loved History, especially presidential facts and enjoyed camping and swimming. He was a storyteller, had a great sense of humor, and he and his family traveled, visiting every state park in Ohio. His passion was his family. His grandchildren adored him and he will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his brother Michael L. Charles. He is survived by Barbara (Kuba), his loving wife of thirty-four years; two children, Matthew (Elizabeth) and Gloria (Jonathan) Inman; three grandchildren, Mitchell, Cameron and Catherine Charles; special niece and nephew, Kimberly (Tracy) Younkin and Michael (Wendy) Charles; nieces, nephews and friends. Family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Swanson officiating. Interment will follow in Mifflin Twp. Cemetery.
