Jeffrey Lehner Obituary

LEHNER Jeffrey Eric Lehner, age 26, was killed early Tuesday morning, October 13, 2009, when his plane crashed after completing a military mission in Afghanistan. Born May 12, 1983, Jeff was a 2001 graduate of Big Walnut High School in Sunbury, Oh. and a 2007 graduate of the Defense Language Institute, where he received an Associate of Arts degree in Korean. After spending six years in the Air Force as an airborne cryptologic linguist and serving two tours in Iraq, he joined the defense contracting firm Sierra Nevada Corporation to perform similar duties in Afghanistan. He is survived by his father, Eric (Linda) Lehner; his mother, Carla (Bruce) Ardinger; his three brothers, Robin (Tammy) Owens of Columbus, Joseph (Kate Linn) Lehner of Sunbury and Adam Bennati of Calif.; and his grandparents, Merrel (Joanne) Smith of Elkton, Oreg. Friends and family may attend a memorial service to be held on November 14 at 4 p.m. at Genoa Baptist Church, 7562 Lewis Center Rd, Westerville, Oh. Interment will occur at a later date in Sunbury Memorial Park, Oh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeff's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Columbus State Community College Jeff Lehner Scholarship fund, or your favorite charity.
