John Chapman Obituary

CHAPMAN John Edward Chapman, 63, of Columbus, passed away December 12, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born June 25, 1947 in Florida. He lived many years in Elyria, Ohio before moving to Columbus in 1989. John was employed at General Motors in Elyria and Columbus, retiring in 1999 after 30 years. After retirement, John's love for cooking led him to establish his own eatery, Slap Happy Chappy's. John leaves behind; his loving wife of forty-one years, Sherry L. Chapman (nee: Moore); daughters, Kelly Chapman of Naperville, Illinois, Kristi Stadelman and her husband, Keven of Lewis Center, Ohio; six grandchildren; sister, Becky New of Amherst; brother, David of San Paulo, Brazil. He was preceded in death by his parents John Ray and Eula Vee Chapman (nee: Hargrove). Friends may call Thursday, December 16, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the HEMPEL FUNERAL HOME, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Service will be held Friday, December 17, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
