John Deinhardt Obituary

Deinhardt John "Jack" Deinhardt, real estate developer, World War II veteran, philanthropist and, with his late wife Libby, founder of the Community Foundation of Broward, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2015 at home in Pompano Beach, Florida, at the age of 94. Jack grew up and raised his family in Columbus, Ohio. He was CEO of Multicon, Inc. and developed many properties throughout South Florida and elsewhere. After moving to Fort Lauderdale with Libby in 1978, he became very involved in the community and served on the boards of the Community Foundation of Broward, John Knox Village Foundation, Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, Salvation Army, Master Chorale, Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, and WPBT/Channel 2, among many others. He loved music and played piano and organ from when he was very young, even recently playing for the John Knox Village Rotary Club meetings. As his eyesight failed, he learned new technologies for the visually impaired and enthusiastically shared that knowledge with others. Jack is survived by his four children and their spouses; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five nieces and nephews and their children; and his beloved dog, Addie. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on April 11 at the John Knox Village auditorium, Pompano Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his honor may be made to the Community Foundation of Broward or the John Knox Village Foundation.

I talked to your dad in January, and he did not sound as strong as usual, but we had a nice chat. I called him several times a year. We had such happy memories to discuss. He and your mother were dear friends for many years. My deepest sympathy to you all.
