Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hoban,
I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. He was a good friend during high school and someone I always looked forward to seeing when we were home from college. We lost touch after that, but I'm sure he remained as friendly, kind and wonderful as he was all those years ago.
With my deepest sympathy,
Lisa Masucci

Mr. & Mrs. Hoban, Karen, Bill & JJ:
I am very sorry to learn of John's passing and my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.
John was such a positive person. He was great to be around. There is no surprise how successful he was in working with others.
From the time I met John at Saint Tim's, to Watterson, the yellow mustang, TEC 17, UC, playing golf and hanging out with Steve; we had some very good times.
I will think of John and remember these times often.

Dear Mr. & Mrs Hoban, Karen and Billy and all the Hoban Children.
There wasn't a time that John didn't come to the Pagura home that he didn't have a smile on his face and something humorous to say to make anyone laugh that was in the same room with him. I had 6 girls and Stephen my only son who had John as a best friend during Waterson days and all the time he was in college up to today. One thing I loved about him was his Donald Duck impersonation which he entertained all of my younger children. I worked for a few year for CPS and I would come hom a lay on the couch for my nap after work and John would always ask me if he came in that night to get Steve. "Mrs. Pagura" would you like to have a "Martini"....It's about that time. He knew I loved Martinis and what a good one he would make and we would sit a solve all the worlds problems until his buddy got ready to go out. I cried when I heard the news but I know he is in a better place .... no more suffering, no more tears ....and a perfect left-handed basketball shot and also the most perfect golf game he will ever have. I will have a mass said from The Pagura Family and blessings on all of the Hoban Family. Fondly, Mrs. Rita Pagura

Lynn & Bill, We extend to you our deepest sympathy. John was a dear, sweet soul. I'll always remember having your three kids for dinner one night. I served sloppy joes, and John couldn't get enough. Every time I make them now, I think of John. You two can be very proud of what a wonderful young man you raised. We're so happy to have known him.

Dear Hoban Family-
John was always an upbeat and friendly guy. He was also one of the smoothest shooting lefties I've ever seen on a basketball court. I remember former Watterson basketball coach Tim Pond working with John on his jump shot just outside the Eagles gym-when he was in the eighth grade at St. Tim's. Not a common practice, but then again, John was not a common guy. I'm so sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace.

Hoban Family,
Though John was in my older brother Sean's class way back in high school, John was always kind to me. Just a really nice guy and someone I looked up to. John had, as Sean said a silky smooth jumper, great golfer, great smile and as I remember an excellent dresser. Remember the good thoughts of JPH.

Mr. and Mrs. Hoban, Karen, and Billy,
It has been many years since I have seen John but my memories of our friendship and time spent together remain vivid and warm. I remember playing Hearts on on the floor in your living room talking and laughing, studying French together almost nightly, counseling each other about the struggle of the day, and just being the best of friends - not just neighbors. I loved John and feel blessed that he was in my life for a time. I'm sure he is entertaining the heavens with his "Donald-Duck speak", sense of humor, and infectious smile. His memory will remain in my heart. God bless you all.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hoban, Karen, Bill and JJ,
I have very fond memories of John from all the years growing up and spending time at your home in the early and mid 70's. He always had kind words and always had a smile. I can still picture him driving that yellow mustang with a smile on his face. My heart aches for your loss. May you draw strength from each other and from your memories of him.
Sending love, thoughts and prayer to you all,

Mr. & Mrs. Hoban, Karen, and Bill,
My heart and all my prayers go out to all of you. John was a special part of my life and I will always remember his charismatic smile, his focus on making people laugh, his determination to be successful and his ability to talk like Donald Duck. He gave me lots of self confidence and determination. He probably never knew what a positive impact he had on my life.
I wish I could do more to celebrate his life.
Love, Joan (Hutson) Hurray
