Parsons, John L.
John Lawrence Parsons, died on 8/17/21. He was born in Winfield, Kansas in 1924, attained a PhD in Agronomy and was a long-time professor at Ohio State University. He traveled the world in his work, living in Brazil and Uganda for several years. His wife of 68 years, Alberta, preceded him in death in 2013. He is survived by his five children, Mark, Kevin, Steven, Gary, Lori; and numerous grandchildren. John lived a long and productive life and left the world a better place. There will be a memorial event for the family in the near future. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Columbus Zoo, where John was a docent for many years.

I remember as a child hearing about your lives in Brazil. I recall that you kids (at least the older kids) had to leave home to boarding school and thinking how brave you had to be to do that. Later when Uncle John and Aunt Bert moved to Uganda, it confirmed my sense that yours was a family that was willing to take a risk and, possibly in the process, make the world a better place. I will forever remember John and Bert fondly and with a bit of awe. We will insure that our grandson who was born the day John died knows of his Great Great Uncle John.
