Joseph Hawkins Obituary

HAWKINS Joseph H. Hawkins, 81, of Mt. Sterling, died October 26, 2008 in Columbus Alzheimer Care Center. He was born May 28, 1927 in Marietta, Ohio. The son of the late George and Claire (Williams) Hawkins. Joe was a member of the Ohio Brick Layer Union #550 and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth and brother Gerald. He is survived by son, Brian Hawkins (Janet Coleman) of Portland, Oregon; daughters, Teresa (David) Mordoh of Worthington, Connie (David) Whiteside of Mt. Sterling; 6 grandchildren, Daniel, Nathan and wife, Tiffany, and Hiliary Whiteside, Michael and George Mordoh, and Andrew Hawkins; great-granddaughter, Kaleigh Whiteside. A Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008 in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Marietta. Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 5–8 p.m. at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Family suggest memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice, 6500 Busch Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43229. PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 W. Main Street, Mount Sterling, Ohio 43143. Teresa & Connie, Sorry to hear about the loss of your father, my prayers are with you and your families. I remember both of you and your parents from way back when you lived in Orient, about the mid 60's, I think. I remember, your place was the first time that I could remember eating pickled pigs feet, what a thing to remember.
