Joseph Woltman Obituary

Woltman Joseph J. Woltman, age 89, died Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Delaware, Ohio. He was born April 24, 1927 in South Bend, Indiana to Alexander and Helen (Komasinski) Woltman. In 1945, he graduated from South Bend Central High School and was drafted into WW II spending the next two years in the US Army Air Corps. Realizing the importance of education and inspired by a patriotic drive to serve his country, he enrolled in Army ROTC at Indiana University where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. In 1951, Joe graduated with a BS in Business, was commissioned and completed quartermaster training at Fort Lee, Virginia. He was stationed in Perigeux, France to support WW II European operations where he received numerous decorations then continued service in the US Army reserves. Upon his return, he settled in Columbus, Ohio and entered a career of over 40 years with Prudential, originally with the Mortgage and Loan division before transferring to Prudential Life Insurance Company. As a special agent, Joe took tremendous pride servicing and focusing on his many clients and continuing as an agent emeritus for over a decade post-retirement. He loved traveling to Europe, gardening in the springtime, seeing the birth of his grandchildren, reading, supporting the Catholic Church, volunteering at the Arthur James Cancer hospital and a good political debate. Joe's greatest love was for his wife of sixty years, JoAnn; and their three boys, Alex, Mike and Chris. He is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn and their three sons, Alex (Gina) of Santa Clarita, CA., Mike (Bonnie) of Yorktown, VA., and Chris (Jeanne) of Huntington Beach, CA.; grandchildren, Noah, Victoria, Arden, Zach and Matthew; brother, Richard Woltman of La Jolla, CA.; and sister-in-law, Maryanne Thomas of Burbank, CA. The Woltman family extends a sincere thank you to Willow-Brooke of Delaware Run for their tremendous care and support.
