Larry Taylor Obituary

TAYLOR Larry Steven Taylor, age 64, died on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Mount Carmel East. He was born in Columbus on July 25, 1945, and was a lifelong resident of the Columbus area. He graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1963, where he was captain of the football team. He was awarded a football scholarship to Kent State University, and after a year there, he served our country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Larry held several positions at various companies before his career as a plumber for Radico Inc., where he worked for almost 40 years. He was very quick to make friends, and will be remembered for his happy-go-lucky attitude. He lived life to the fullest, and he had fun wherever he was and whatever he was doing. Larry was a huge OSU fan, and he also loved the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions. He enjoyed travel, taking many trips to Florida and parts of Europe, and he was a giving person, donating his time and efforts to the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethons. He was a loving husband and supportive father, always there to coach his sons' sports teams and to be an encouragement to them. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 17 years, Sheila Taylor; sons, Brian Taylor and Chad Taylor; grandson, Connor; mother, Ruth Taylor; siblings, Tom (Sonia) Taylor, Timothy (Pam) Taylor, and Sue Taylor; good friends who supported him during his illness, Tom and Tina, Cathy and Bob, Vinny and Tammy, and Bo and John; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father William Taylor. Larry's family wishes to thank the 3rd and 4th floor staff at Mount Carmel East, as well as Mount Carmel Hospice and Dr. Timothy Moore at the Zangmeister Center for their wonderful care. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Celebrant Andrew Hoover officiating. Interment will follow at Mifflin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Larry's name can be made to Mount Carmel Hospice, or to the Zangmeister Center. Visit www.schoedinger.com to share a favorite memory of Larry.

I remember Larry always being there to support Brian, his unit & the rest of us at the USMC birthday's & other events. You could tell that he was very proud of his son & that he was an excellent father just by the way he looked at Brian. A very nice person & fun to be around. I only met Larry a few times but that was enough to know what a great person he was. I'm happy to have met him & enjoyed the times we celebrated our military service as well as honoring those of our brothers that had passed. BT you are good & honest man & a fine warrior & I know how much you love your boy; that is a sign that you had an excellent father. God bless all of Larry's loved one's during this difficult time & may you all be blessed with the wonderful memories you all shared with Larry.

I met Larry many many years ago. He was always one of Sue's big brothers. I thought he was one of the most handsome men I'd ever seen! Larry was always very gracious to everyone he met. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. His pride of family and country speaks for him far beyond this physical world.
