Marion Lupo Obituary

LUPO Marion W. "Billy" Lupo. In loving memory of Marion W. "Billy" Lupo, August 11, 1932-November 10, 2006. Billy Lupo died peacefully at Mt. Carmel East Hospital surrounded by family and friends. A life-long resident of Columbus, Ohio, he was born at home and spent much of his childhood on the Near Northside in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood. The son of Louis and Elizabeth Lupo, immigrants from Rome and Giulianova, respectively, he was the sixth of seventh children. He attended St. Dominic's, St. Augustine, where he later served as football coach, St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and the Columbus Boys' Trade School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He was retired from Western Electric, where he also served as union steward for the local CWA, and from Bexley City Schools. He was a brave, majestic, and generous hard-working man who was devoted to his family, and a great and accomplished Italian cook. He served as a source of inspiration, support, comfort, and stability for many people in the community, especially through his gift of emotionally reviving the hearts of others. An independent thinker, he was a friend of the working person, and he believed in the inherent worth and dignity of every man and woman. He never shied away from helping anyone in need. He always enjoyed creating things, and in his later years worked on home projects with family and friends. He is survived by his loyal friend, Dorothy E. Lupo, retired administrator for the State of Ohio, who is also the mother of his children. He is also survived by his daughter, Marian E. Lupo, J.D., Ph.D., of Columbus, Ohio; his daughter, Theresa E. Lupo (Robert Dolin) of Bexley, Ohio; his son, Louis M. Lupo (Rebecca Lupo) of Huntsville, Alabama; his granddaughters, Gabrielle, Abigail, Madeline, and Gracie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be missed sorely by many people, especially his dear friends, Randy Anderson and Kevin Dean. He was perfect in his love. His family and friends know he has found a home and a heart even more tender and cherishing than theirs.

Happy Veteran's day Grampies. I miss you. Wish you could've met my husband - he reminds me a lot of you - and boys. I hope your mind is clear and you're at peace. I'll never forget the feeling of your strong, calloused hand holding mine.
