Aunt Martha was my great, great aunt. When I moved to Columbus in 2012, she allowed me to live with her and she taught me all about Columbus and how to get around Ohio. I considered her more a friend than an aunt. In 2017, I started spending less time with her and that is my regret. I expected her to go on forever, thought there would be time later to resume spending time with her. That chance has gone so I must treasure the times we did spend together. I miss you, Aunt Martha, even the aggravations. You were spirited and direct and loving. Rest in peace knowing that your passing brought me back in contact with my mother's closest relatives. We met by your casket as we were saying goodbye to you. I can just see you laughing at me because I did not recognize my own uncle. I love you, Aunt Martha. Life will not be the same without you.

Martha was just about my favorite client in my 39 years of practicing law. Every time I saw her, I was reminded of my great grandmother Anderson who was also a real worker, scraping and painting her front porch in her '90s the summer before she passed. I can picture them meeting now.

Martha Lash was one of the kindest soul to grace this side of earth. My memories of her were always with her smile that would light up the room. I will miss her but I know that she is with God resting in peace with so many of our other family members. You may be gone home now but your love and warmth will always be remembered. Rest in Peace!
