Mary Lewis Obituary

Lewis Mary Louise Lewis, 93, formerly of Gahanna, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Newark Hills Health in Newark, Ohio, and no doubt there was a joyful celebration in Heaven as she was reunited with her husband, David. She was born July 29, 1922, in Findlay, Ohio to Louise and Rusty Orndorff. Mary had one brother, Elmer. She attended Findlay College where she met David F. Lewis and on October 16, 1942, they were married in Moultrie, GA. Mary lived in Gahanna for over 58 years before moving into assisted living in Newark in 2013. She is survived by son, Mikal Lewis and wife, Colleen of Hill City, SD; and daughter, Barbara Hancock and husband, Larry Sr. of Council Bluffs, IA; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband and her brother. Win or lose Mary was an avid OSU Buckeye football fan and, in her later years, became educated on the rules of ice hockey and truly enjoyed following the Columbus Blue Jackets. At Mary's request, no service will be held. Mary requested all memorials be sent to: Voicecorps Reading Services, 2955 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43204. Mary was truly one of the special ones.
